We are very pleased to announce that Carin Campbell has joined MBB Consulting as a Senior Contracts Consultant.

Carin is tertiary qualified and a green star accredited professional with over 20 years experience across major projects. She has worked with Tier 1 Contractors across all sectors in Australia.

During that time, Carin honed her Commercial and Contracts Management skills over the whole life cycle of major projects – from feasibility, cost planning, tendering, scope of works definition, procurement, contract negotiation and award, post-contract administration, payment claims, change management, final account resolution, close out of warranties and defects liability periods, as well experience in the avoidance and/or resolution of contract monetary claims and extensions of time.

Her broad sector experience includes both major infrastructure, structural and building projects.  Carin regularly provides procurement and contracts management across different contracting methods. She is a regularly sought-after specialist commercial resource, who can bring her technical knowledge and experience to any stage of a project in the planning and construction delivery process.

She has direct and relevant experience in the management of commercial issues upon many technically challenging and complex projects, that require the co-ordination of multiple stakeholders, strict time and budget cost control processes and implementation.

Carin is highly regarded for her procurement, contractual and commercial skillsets.  She is also a keen advocate for promoting safety in construction.

Over her career, Carin has developed a keen eye for quality management, programming, design, and overall project delivery.  With a genuine calm and methodical approach to situations, she has developed into an established all-round commercially focused construction and engineering professional.

Carin is detail oriented and thrives on complex projects where her skill can be utilised, and future skills can be developed. Carin is passionate about Construction and Engineering and believes “Construction is an ever-evolving discipline, and a wonderfully engaging occupation for the curious”

We look forward to a successful journey ahead with you Carin! Welcome aboard!

A little more about Carin

Where I’m from

Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, I have been so lucky to have lived around the world thanks to my fathers work in the oil industry. Under my own steam, have lived in London and Sydney arriving in Melbourne in 2000. Melbourne is a wonderful city to live, with a wide diversity of activities, cultural experiences, and great events & venues. So many great opportunities, for work, and play!

Outside interests & hobbies

At the moment, I seem to be spending about 120% of my time wrangling a bush block in the outer eastern suburbs, enjoying plenty of native wildlife. The other 50% of my free time is spent on the water at Port Phillip Bay sailing.

Sport & Sporting events

I am a keen sailor, and try and fit 2 races in a week. My crew and I are currently training to participate in the AWKR (Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta) which will be held in June 22, hosted by the club I belong to, so we are very excited about that.

What inspired you to become a Construction Professional?

Construction is such a diverse career, with opportunities in all disciplines. I graduated from a Biotech Science subject, but with a desire to actually see the results of my work. After a number of roles in supporting industries, I beat a path into construction, where I have found a niche that suits my enquiring mind, and need for detail.

What do you love about the industry & the work you do?

Contracts and commercial work require attention to detail, and the desire to get to the bottom of puzzles like “2+2=5”. Why? I love a mystery.

It’s also a great team environment (similar to sailing) you know your contribution keeps the project powering along, and there is always a diverse bunch to get to know, and share experiences and knowledge with. Handing over  finished project to a happy client has to be the best part, and then we do it all over again.

“Construction is an ever-evolving discipline, and a wonderfully engaging occupation for the curious”
