Inner Melbourne Cycling Program (Pop Up Bike Lanes)*

Safer and Easier Cycling in Melbourne

Roads Sector

Project Overview

DOT / Vic roads are installing 100kms of new & improved pop-up bike routes across Inner-Melbourne suburbs to make it easier and safer for people to ride in and out of Melbourne CBD and surrounds.

Working with communities and local councils DOT are trialling a combination of pop-up bike routes on busy roads. The Program aims to support more people to ride their bikes  easily and safely across inner-Melbourne.

Project Scope

MBB provided project management in the Active Transport Team (Delivery Lead) assisting delivery of up to 100km of Cycling improvements to local and state roads. This is part of a 12-18 month trial to determine if treatments implemented increase bicycle ridership across the network, and promote active forms of transport. MBB’s scope of works for this project was to assist the team in the procurement and delivery of the treatments, managing the contractors program, and ensuring the projects were delivered on-time, within budget.
